Software today announced the immediate availability of TAPLESSthumbs™
Gen1.0 a breakthrough in full screen keyboards for the Pocket PC.
TAPLESSthumbs uses
the Synaptek exclusive LiveText™
agent to simplify and accelerate
full screen keyboards on the Pocket PC. “The LiveText Agent allows
users to keep working directly with their document when they
transition to a full screen keyboard,” said Kevin Willows, Author of
TAPLESSthumbs. “This unique ability to maintain context permits a
natural workflow when using full screen keyboards and the exclusive
ZoomKey™
feature provides unparalleled
visual feedback.”
LiveText
Agent
The Synaptek
exclusive LiveText technology now available in TAPLESS, and enabled in
most Microsoft Pocket PC applications, permits real-time document
access while using a full screen keyboard. LiveText eliminates the
pre-selection of text and copy/paste operations found in other
solutions. The LiveText protocol provides a growing number of third
party developers to LiveText enable their applications.
ZoomKeys
With no facility for
tactile feedback, a Pocket PC screen requires other forms of feedback.
TAPLESS exclusive ZoomKeys provide the visual queues that make text
entry easier and less error prone. With user definable Zoom factor,
thumb size navigation keys and a skin swap key to permit access to any
other TAPLESSthumbs skin.
Full Screen Preview
TAPLESSthumbs full
screen skins provide a quick full screen landscape preview. This
eliminates the need to flip in and out of full screen mode and rotate
the Pocket PC while editing.
WordBrowser
True WordBrowsing is
now available on a full screen keyboard. The WordBrowser provides
multiple word suggestions, dynamic updating and tap and hold browsing.
Advanced Dictionary
for Unicode
The new advanced
WordWeb™
Dictionary Engine provides full
Unicode support. Now formulas, Email addresses, URL’s or any other
symbolic data can be browsed along with any of 6 initially available
languages.
User can also
generate task unique WordWeb dictionaries using the free
TAPLESSlexicon desktop utility.
SmartKeys
Virtually all keys on
TAPLESSthumbs skins can have one or more SmartKey programs. A simple
Tap and Hold launches the programmer for a given key. Then just slide
and release or tap on a program to execute. Creating programs requires
only selecting text in any application and tapping the programmers
‘Add’ key. Selected text can also include embedded commands to
automate operations.
SmartMarks™
SmartMarks work along
with the WordBrowser to keep punctuation and spaces in their place.
When spaces are automatically added after a word, the SmartMark agent
acts to place commas and other punctuation appropriately and then
maintain a natural flow during text entry.

TAPLESSthumbs Gen1.0
is available immediately for Windows Mobile 2003SE and Pocket PC 2002
based Pocket PC’s and provides full VGA and Orientation support.

is $14.95 U.S. for the Basic version with LiveText and ZoomKeys,
$24.95 for either the WordBrowser Edition or SmartMark Edition and
